Residents across the UAE are being advised to prepare for a period of unsettled winter weather, with cooler temperatures, strong winds, and rough sea conditions expected over the coming days, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
The change marks a typical mid-winter shift, as seasonal weather systems bring fluctuations in temperature and atmospheric pressure across the region. The NCM says daytime temperatures are likely to ease slightly, while nights and early mornings will feel noticeably cooler, particularly in inland and desert areas.
Strong northwesterly winds are expected to be a key feature of the forecast. These winds can reduce visibility at times by stirring up dust and sand, especially in open areas and along highways. Motorists are advised to drive with caution, particularly during periods of reduced visibility or sudden gusts.
Coastal and marine conditions are also set to deteriorate. The NCM has warned of rough seas in the Arabian Gulf and parts of the Oman Sea, making conditions hazardous for small boats and marine activities. Fishermen, sailors, and beachgoers are urged to follow official advisories and avoid venturing into the sea during warning periods.
While rainfall is not guaranteed everywhere, the unsettled pattern increases the chance of intermittent showers in some areas, particularly over the northern and eastern parts of the country. Any rain that does fall is expected to be light to moderate but could briefly affect road conditions.
Humidity levels may rise at night and in the early morning, increasing the likelihood of mist or fog formation in some regions. This can further impact visibility, especially during early commutes.
Authorities have reminded residents to stay updated through official weather channels and to take sensible precautions, including securing outdoor items, dressing appropriately for cooler conditions, and planning marine or desert activities carefully.
Meteorologists note that such weather patterns are common during the UAE’s winter months, offering a brief break from milder conditions while reinforcing the need for awareness during transitional periods.
As the cooler spell unfolds, residents are encouraged to enjoy the change in weather while remaining mindful of safety advisories – particularly on the roads and at sea.
