UAE Bans Travel to Mali; Citizens Urged to Return Immediately

Abu Dhabi, UAE: On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) announced a travel ban on all UAE citizens travelling to the Republic of Mali, citing current developments in the West African nation as the reason for the decision.

In the same statement, MoFA urged all Emirati nationals currently present in Mali to return to the UAE as soon as possible.

The ministry emphasized the seriousness of the situation and urged citizens to follow official instructions and alerts, remain vigilant, and exercise the highest levels of caution.

For those currently in Mali, MoFA encouraged contacting its dedicated emergency hotline (+971 800 24)-available 24/7-for assistance if needed.

Immediate Return Urged for Those in Mali

UAE nationals currently in Mali have been instructed to return at the earliest opportunity. The advisory underscores urgency and cautions against further travel to the country.

Safety, Caution, and 24/7 Support Hotline

Given the nature of the developments in Mali, the ministry stressed that citizens should remain alert, adhere strictly to MoFA guidance, and avoid unnecessary risks. An emergency hotline is available for those requiring assistance.

Wider Implications for UAE Nationals Abroad

This move reinforces the UAE’s readiness to take swift diplomatic and protective action when nationals abroad may face elevated risk, reflecting a broader policy of prioritizing citizen safety during international crises.
