Dr. Desziree Richardson:
My early life had a very strong influence on who I am today. I grew up in Anguilla in the Caribbean in a large family environment where community and support were very important.
Like many families, we faced our own challenges. Those moments taught me resilience and responsibility at a young age. When you grow up seeing people work hard to create opportunities for their families, you develop a deep appreciation for perseverance.
Those experiences helped shape my outlook on life. I learned that determination and belief in yourself can change the direction of your future.
As I grew older, I became interested in communication and leadership. I enjoyed connecting with people and listening to their stories. That interest eventually led me to explore educational and professional opportunities abroad.
Moving to the United Kingdom was a significant step. It introduced me to new cultures, ideas, and perspectives. Living in a different environment helped me see how leadership can emerge from many different backgrounds.
It strengthened my belief that anyone, regardless of where they come from, has the potential to make a meaningful impact.
Amira: Your work now reaches people across different countries. When did you realize you wanted to create global initiatives?
Dr. Desziree Richardson:

Through the foundation, we work on initiatives related to education, leadership development, and humanitarian support. These programs are designed to provide practical help where it is needed most.

Dr. Desziree Richardson:

The Gentlemen of Heart Awards celebrate individuals who demonstrate leadership through respect, mentorship, and advocacy.
These are men who support inclusive workplaces, mentor women in their careers, and promote fairness within their organizations.
Recognizing their contributions sends a clear message. Empowerment should involve everyone. When men and women work together, real change becomes possible.
Amira: Beyond humanitarian initiatives, you are also an entrepreneur. Tell us about your lifestyle brand.
Dr. Desziree Richardson:
Entrepreneurship has always been part of my journey. One of my ventures is Happy Mood Swagger, a lifestyle brand centered on positivity and self-expression.
The concept behind the brand is straightforward. What we wear and how we present ourselves can influence our confidence.
Clothing and personal style can become a form of expression. They can reflect individuality and optimism.
Through Happy Mood Swagger, we aim to promote joy, creativity, and confidence. It is a way of encouraging people to express their personality while maintaining a positive outlook.
Entrepreneurship also gives me another avenue to connect with people and share meaningful messages.
Amira: Your work spans leadership initiatives, humanitarian projects, speaking, and entrepreneurship. How do you maintain balance?
Dr. Desziree Richardson:
Balance begins with purpose.
When you remain connected to the reason you started something, it becomes easier to manage the demands that come with it.
Of course, there are moments when schedules become very busy. Running initiatives and projects across different regions requires time and attention.
But I always remind myself that the goal is to create opportunities and encourage positive change. That perspective helps keep everything grounded.
Having supportive teams also makes a big difference. Strong networks and collaborative partnerships help ensure that projects continue to grow in a sustainable way.

Dr. Desziree Richardson:
I am always grateful for recognition and appreciation.
