At the 2025 GITEX Global 2025 tech show, home-grown large language models (LLMs) trained in Arabic dialects were showcased, signaling a pivot to local-first AI development. With strong infrastructure, government backing and native datasets, the Gulf is positioning itself as a key hub for Arabic-first AI. But challenges remain—such as dialect diversity, data sharing frameworks and moving from prototypes to exportable AI products.
