Abu Dhabi Launches Dh800 Virtual Wedding Service - Marry Remotely, Legally

Abu Dhabi has launched a trailblazing service through its TAMM app that allows couples to legally complete their wedding over a video call — from anywhere in the world — for a fee of Dh800 (around US$217).

This initiative, first unveiled around the GITEX technology event, is overseen by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department and is accessible to citizens, residents, and non-residents (the latter may need a legal representative inside the UAE).

The full process can be completed in as little as 24 hours, provided all required documents are in order and appointments are booked promptly. The steps include document submission, appointment scheduling, and setting up a virtual ceremony over a secure WebEx link. All participants — the couple, two witnesses, an officiant, and invited guests — join via video call.

Couples wishing to have an attested version of their marriage certificate can pay an additional Dh300, which enables digital attestation via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and issuance with a UAE Pass signature. The integration of Emirates ID and UAE Pass helps verify identities and guard against underage or forced marriages.

Proponents regard this as a significant leap in digital governance — allowing people to access a deeply personal service from afar, removing geographical constraints, cutting administrative friction, and reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s position as a leader in smart government technology.
