This initiative was announced by Omar Sultan Al Olama, the UAE’s Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, during his address at the Expand North Star event in Dubai.
Al Olama emphasized that this expansion is not just about numbers but about fostering a robust AI ecosystem that integrates AI into various sectors to enhance productivity and quality of life. He highlighted the UAE’s early investment in AI, dating back to 2008, and the establishment of the world’s first AI ministry in 2017 as foundational steps in this journey.
The UAE government plans to support this growth through various initiatives, including certification programs, AI competence rankings, and incentives for traditional industries to adopt AI technologies. These efforts aim to position the UAE as a global AI startup hub, attracting both local and international AI companies.
