Dubai is actively seeking to enhance collaboration with South Korean startups in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector, aiming to position the United Arab Emirates as a global hub for emerging technologies. Saeed Al Falasi, Executive Director of the Dubai Future Foundation, emphasized the city’s commitment to hosting globally competitive startups during the Expand North Star startup exhibition.
This initiative is part of the UAE’s broader strategy to attract innovative firms through AI and technology initiatives, reflecting the nation’s ambition to become a global leader in AI innovation. The UAE’s long-term approach to AI leadership, initiated in 2008 with investments in AI chips and global AI companies, has been a driving force behind this push. Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, highlighted the nation’s early commitment to AI development.
In September 2025, the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) signed a strategic partnership with Korea’s National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) to advance AI and startup collaboration between the UAE and South Korea. With over 110 South Korean firms already operating in the UAE, this partnership is expected to unlock new capital flows, accelerate technology transfer, and foster innovation in the AI sector.
The UAE’s proactive approach and strategic partnerships underscore its commitment to becoming a global leader in AI innovation and fostering deeper ties with South Korean firms in this transformative sector.
