Dubai: Dubai will welcome 2026 with one of its most ambitious New Year’s Eve celebrations to date, staging 48 fireworks displays across 40 locations throughout the emirate, authorities announced on Friday.
The plan was revealed during a press conference by the Events Security Committee, which said the large-scale celebrations would be supported by an unprecedented security and logistics operation to ensure public safety and smooth crowd management.
To oversee the festivities, more than 23,000 security personnel will be deployed, working alongside 55 government and private sector entities. Officials described the coordinated effort as the most comprehensive New Year’s Eve operation in Dubai’s history, reflecting the scale of expected crowds and global attention.
Fireworks will light up multiple landmarks, residential districts, and waterfront destinations, allowing residents and visitors to celebrate closer to home while easing pressure on traditionally crowded areas. Authorities said the decentralised approach aims to enhance safety, reduce congestion,n and improve the overall experience for families and tourists.
“This year’s plan reflects Dubai’s commitment to delivering world-class celebrations while prioritising public safety and comfort,” officials said, noting that extensive preparations have been underway for months.
The Events Security Committee confirmed that advanced monitoring systems, crowd-control measures, and emergency response teams will be active across all celebration zones. Traffic management plans, road diversions, and public transport extensions will be rolled out in coordination with the Roads and Transport Authority to handle the expected surge in movement.
Dubai Police, Civil Defence, ambulance services, and volunteer teams will be stationed across fireworks locations, with rapid-response units ready to deal with any incidents. Authorities also urged the public to follow official guidance, arrive early, and use public transport where possible.
Dubai’s New Year’s Eve celebrations have become a global attraction, drawing millions of viewers both on the ground and through international broadcasts. Officials said the 2026 programme aims to reinforce the city’s reputation for hosting safe, spectacular and well-organised events on a global scale.
Further details on fireworks locations, road closures, and public transport schedules are expected to be released in the coming days through official channels.
