According to police sources, a lookout notice has been issued after the accused reportedly fled the state following a complaint by a woman who accused him of repeated sexual assault, coercion into miscarriage, and threats.
Investigators say the woman alleged the assaults occurred over months and that she was forced to take abortion pills arranged by an associate of the MLA, who is also now a co-accused.
A special investigation team (SIT) has combed through CCTV footage, phone records, and other digital leads in an effort to trace Mamkootathil, so far with no success.
Police suspect he may have been aided in evasion by individuals believed to have political connections.
The legal pressure on him deepened when a court reviewing his anticipatory bail plea flagged the gravity of accusations—including rape, forced miscarriage, and recording private images without consent—and adjourned the hearing pending further evidence.
Meanwhile, internal dissent has surfaced within his own party. Several members have claimed they had earlier alerted party leadership about alleged misconduct and inappropriate behavior—warnings that, according to them, were ignored.
