Sudan Conflict Deepens: 40 Killed in Deadly Attack on Key City in Kordofan, Says UN

The United Nations has reported that at least 40 civilians were killed in a violent attack on a key city in Kordofan, Sudan, as the country’s ongoing conflict continues to escalate. The assault, part of renewed clashes between the Sudanese army and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), targeted residential areas, leaving widespread devastation and forcing thousands to flee. According to the UN, recent satellite images reveal extensive destruction and civilian displacement in and around Al-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur. Humanitarian agencies are struggling to access affected regions due to security risks, raising fears of a worsening crisis. The international community has called for an immediate ceasefire to prevent further loss of life.
