Dick Cheney, who served as the 46th Vice President of the United States from 2001-2009, has died at the age of 84. His family confirmed he passed away due to complications from pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease.

He was widely regarded as one of the most powerful and controversial vice-presidents in U.S. history, playing a pivotal role in post-9/11 national security strategy and the Iraq War.
